Professional Development & Career Growth
We do not hire people for jobs. We invest in people for careers. At Peas in a Pod, your professional growth is not just encouraged — it is expected, supported, and celebrated.
The 40-Hour Annual Training Requirement
Florida DCF requires all childcare staff to complete 40 clock hours of approved training annually. Peas in a Pod not only meets this requirement — we exceed it. We provide paid training time, cover training costs, and track your hours in Gusto.
The CDA Scholarship Program
Peas in a Pod covers the full cost of your Child Development Associate (CDA) credential if you do not already have one. The CDA is the foundational professional credential in early childhood education and opens doors to higher compensation and advancement.
Peas in a Pod pays all coursework and exam fees
Paid time off is provided for CDA coursework hours
Upon earning your CDA, you receive a compensation increase
CDA holders are prioritized for Lead Teacher positions
Career Pathway at Peas in a Pod
Teacher's Aide → Assistant Teacher (after CDA enrollment)
Assistant Teacher → Lead Teacher (after CDA completion + 1 year experience)
Lead Teacher → Senior Lead Teacher (after 3 years + continued education)
Senior Lead Teacher → Assistant Director (by invitation, Director recommendation)
Assistant Director → Director (after Associate's degree or higher in ECE)
Annual Performance Reviews
Every staff member receives a formal annual performance review conducted by their Director. Reviews assess performance against the Peas Standard, professional development progress, and goal achievement. Compensation adjustments are tied to performance review outcomes.
"We want you to grow beyond us. We want to train the next generation of childcare leaders. If you leave Peas in a Pod to lead your own center someday, that is our greatest success."
